Early World
History Honors is a survey course that covers from the development of humankind
through the 20th century.
Themes for the course include the Classical Period, the Middle Ages,
Renaissance and the Reformation; as well as more modern topics
including the Industrial Age, Imperialism, and the World Wars. At the Honors level, the course
requires more intensive historical analysis.
Students will use primary and secondary sources and be required to do
outside reading and document analysis exercises. The purpose of this course is to challenge
students with a creative and critical thinking environment that prepares them
for future success. Students will be
required to produce a variety of activities that benefit their individual
learning styles and show comprehension of material covered. Furthermore, this course will prepare
students, who wish to continue high level historical analysis, to go on to
AP-level programs in history.
Prerequisite: Students must earn a “B” or higher in their
previous social studies course and have a teacher recommendation to take this
course.
